Doug : Back Yard Artist The Shadow

The Shadow

Posted on Aug 14th, 2007 by Doug : Back Yard Artist Doug

I struggle with my shadow who drags me down into the dark sea, who drives me to haul my dead mother up into the upper branches in the tree of life, to the right side with my children at my left. I can climb no higher and thanks to Little Bear who helped me last night by pushing from below as I pulled on the belt around her waist. I just couldn't do it alone.

Mom, I remember the night I dreamed of devils whipping poor souls in fire and you were so angry with me. How did you get so unhappy?

And the shadows of clouds that drift and dance amongst the flowing grassland on this forgotten shore, drift past again through my world and the land of my children's children until that day we remember that shadows are the frame defining light, like a Atget tree bathing in it's morning foggy light, the shadow gives meaning to beauty.

…And when we journey into shadows, in the light of the guides' love, it is cajoled into giving up the wondrous potentialities it holds.

Your words are artistic, too, Doug. Thank you.

Thank you my dear friend. I needed your words tonight to release into the rain of a darker moment. We are moved by the same love.
