Doug
the quiet before dawn,
the old green chair that I carried from one shore
to the sea, here.
The occasional car passing to where,
the red lights stream across the wall.
The painting I made for you now becoming clearer
in the brightening light,
The yellow lights of night gently blink once more and out.
I'm quiet now too. |

It seems like no one was ever there during those hours before morning, when I fell exhausted into bed the night before into a brief dreamless sleep. But now I know you were both there with me.
